Keith... I have always like doing things the easiest way .And this seamed to be the best way to install the strike plate. I can't remember what year I installed the lock, but it has to be longer than 20 years and it's the same strike plate. And the door still closes very easily.
Dang. Twenty years of service sounds like it is up to the task. It may be a few months before I get to this, but I'll mark this discussion so I can hit you up if I have any questions.
I don't know where you live, but I'm on the I-5 corridor in Oregon, so if you're in my neighborhood I'd be happy to help you with the installation of your lock
Thank you Riley. I'm down in Texas, so by the time I get up to Oregon with my Scamp I hope I have the door lock all sorted out. But I'll hit you up when we are in the area. We are certainly going to be heading your way, it just may take a year or two for us to get there!
That doesn't sound like standard Scamp lock setup, but more like PO added a deadbolt or some such. We'd need good detailed pics inside and out to be able to make any guesses as to how they installed it.
We had installed the "RV Paddle" style lock on our 13' Scamp. When I cut the lock opening in the door, I then used fiberglass resin on the door core opening, so water would not be able to intrude into the door core, creating damage.
I ordered a new inside and outside door handle from scamp. It looks like it cannot be locked from the inside. No pin or anything. Or am I missing something?
Thanks for all the work of detailing how to install a replacement lock!
I just received my lock from etrailer.com. The door lock is manufactured by RVLocksAndMore.com and it appears to be a copy of a TriMark lock.

Greg: Not me, just something I found. Happy to share it to get more comments.
Riley: I like your simplified approach to the strike plate. Simple is typically better for me! Thanks for sharing your detailed instructions.

Thanks for the compliment.

My scamp also has a round key lock above the handle which has loosened and popped out . Anyone know how to fix that?
