Tires 16’

I am looking for new tires for my 2010 16' scamp.  There are so many choices and I'm not sure where to begin. Any suggestions?

Size and endurance

Depending on the size needed for your 16Scamp   Goodyear endurance special trailer (ST)  are getting great reviews as compared to their previous  Chinese made trailer tires.  Just an opinion to go with higher load rating and US made  and get them balanced before returning to service

Goodyear Endurance

I have had Goodyear Endurance for 3 years now and like them. At that time I had to go to 14" to get them, and then a lift kit to get them to fit. If you can find them in your size I think you'll like them. Also, here is a tire picture from the Scamp rally. the owner said the only damage was some black marks on the fiberglass. Maybe they will jump in to comment.

D-Load tires

There probably are several good bands of tires.  I recommend getting D-load rated tires because they have stronger side walls, can handle several hundred pounds more greater load, and they are rated for higher speeds.  My used 16-ft Scamp Deluxe came with C-load tires.  I had two of them blow out.  I replaced them with D-load Carlisle Radial Trail HD.  I am very pleased with how these tires are wearing and ride on the highway.  I looked around our City and was not pleased with the availability and prices of trailer tires.  I ordered from Amazon and got them in 2-3 days.  Moreover, I looked at the code on the tires and they were very fresh (2 months old), which is much fresher than tires from some local dealers.  You should get radial tires because people say that provide a smoother ride and handle highway speeds better.  If you want more durable, heavier load tires, you could go to a wider D-load tire (ST185/80R13 instead of ST175).  Someone on this forum probably has tried ST185s and can tell you how they perform.
