Jeep Gladiator
I have pulled both my 19' Scamp deluxe and my now 2013 16' Scamp Std. with a Toyota Tacoma. I have had three of them and have great praise for them as a tow vehicle for our small campers. The Tacoma with a 6500# tow capacity, 4.0L engine pulls a Scamp with ease and only needed some leaf spring helpers to accommodate the tongue weight.
I Traded it in and got the Jeep Gladiator. It is a Sport model with the Max Tow Package, making it able to pull 7650#. It pulls the scamp great and is a smooth ride. The back-up camera has a zoom feature the make hooking up a breeze. I added the Redarc Elite brake controller and ready to go!
Jeep Wave to you!!!! Both a friend and I tow our Scamps with 4 dr Wranglers. I did not know the Gladiator had that much towing capacity--that is awesome. Ha ha ha, you could do a lift mod on the Scamp and trek around the Moab with that rig.

Wow, I wasn’t aware of that model. Having had a Wrangler in my past, still one of my favorites.
It looks close, but almost looks like you could pull a Scamp 19. Is there enough bed and rear suspension to pull one?

Thanks guys.
It pulls well. Greg, the spring support on this one is better yet so I'm sure it would do it. Rhonda, I'm not lift'n it or going with the big wheels because it will reduce the tow capacity and I'm love'n the feel!
Not a lift on the Jeep...on the Scamp so IT can go off-roading too! I am not a fan of lifted Jeeps. I drive mine for work, and I test-drove a Rubicon with a factory lift. I did not like the top-heavy feel on curves at all. Plus...I am a bit too creaky to climb into a lifted Jeep gracefully! Here is a pic of the two Jeeps and Scamps on a trip last fall.

How do you like your Redarc brake controler. I installed one in my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and like it very much. the operator portion of the control unit was easily made to mount thru a non used dash switch so it looks much like a factory one might. I have had several other brands over the years and Have nothing but good to say regarding the Redarc
2019 Scamp 13 standard
I located it in place of the cigarette lighter. It appears as if it were OEM.
Here is the control knob in the dash:
Here is the unit mounted on the firewall:
Jeep Gladiator with a Scamp 19 5th wheel? No problem. Own it. Awesome. Also, big thumbs up on the redarc brake controller. Reachout if you have any questions or want pics!
Hi! I just posted a new post in the forum about getting advice for a new towing vehicle for our 1999 19' standard Scamp. The Jeep Gladiator is near the top of our list and I'm so happy to see someone here who has towed a 19' with it. I'd love to hear what package and year Jeep you got, how you think it tows/handles/suspension/gas mileage and anything else you can think of, and what type of hitch you got in the bed (Scamp 5th wheel?). Did you have Redarc installed in the factory or is that always aftermarket? Also, just curious. how do you like the Jeep to drive without your Scamp hooked up?
Thank you so much for any help you can give. I'd love to see some pics if you have any too.

I had never set the Gladiator up to pull the 19' Scamp. I sold the 19' and got a 16 Scamp Std.
There was a guy on FB that posted this picture:
But I can't find who it is. If you go with the Gladiator to pull a 19' get the Max Tow Package, not a standard tow package. The Max Tow comes with a 4:10 gearing and heavier rear springs.
Good luck.
