Hi!
I'm looking to add cable to my '85 16ft using the kit from the Scamp factory. Can anyone guide me as to a good place on the outside to locate it? Where does the factory locate it? Have you done it yourself?
Any help before I cut into my baby would be appreciated :)

I have seen this used a S-19 trailer. It was mounted over the rear dinette table under the window. I guess they put the TV on the dinette table. The outside cover plate turned yellow from UV rays. I would use a TV jack with a flip over cover from Amazon or a local RV shop. (I don't like the one Casita uses.) I would mount it on the drivers side under the rear dinette seat. This is where most service connections are for the newer trailers and the inside cables can be routed under the seats and cabinets.

You can also just buy the outside unit alone.
JR also makes a round cover with a floppy cover. (Casita Style) I have had to replace several because of broken/detached covers.
I mounted the TV jack on the street side next to the electric port and ran the cable into the rear bench compartment. Initially I ran the cable through the cabinets to the front of my Scamp as I had the TV on a cabinet extension over the couch in my 13 footer.
I have subsequently made a 2 tier shelf, mounted between the rear and side window so the TV cable simply comes up from the rear bench compartment. Here's a picture showing the TV jack next to the electric port which is now a door. What the picture doesn't show is that there are now 2 TV jacks. The upper jack is used for Cable TV from the campsite and the lower (the original) is used for Satellite. The 2 cables run to an A/B switch which is mounted under the TV shelf. The A/B switch allows me to switch back and forth from cable to satellite when connected to both.

Thanks so much for the help guys!
You are right Eddie, that one on Amazon is much better than what Scamp sells. Thank you for the link!
Thank you for your picture Joy! It gives me a perfect idea of where to put the port.
Now I just have to stop taking up every weekend with "Scampering" to Myrtle Beach and I can get the project done ;)

An easy connection is where the factory puts it. Our outlet is under the side dinnette. You may not have such a set up.

Yeah, I have an '88 16 footer. I feel like cable was rabbit ears for campers in '88 or maybe one of those little handheld tvs LOL same reception...
But when you say side dinette, which side? Driver or passenger? Thanks!

One way to prevent yellowing of exposed plastic parts is to simply spray paint them before installing them. Today's spray paints that are formulated for plastic are fantastic. if you use several light/thin coats the finish turns out amazing!
You can also paint existing parts that have already yellowed, simply mask around them and use a good primer (or paint with primer) to give the paint something to adhere to (I like the self etching primers myself [Duplicolor brand is my absolute favorite]).
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
Flyboy said the TV outlet/jack is under the Side dinette. His Scamp is the floor plan with a side dinette which would be on the street side of trailer.
I have a 13 Scamp therefore no side dinette but I put the TV jack on the street side also because that is the side I have the TV on. So simply into the rear street side dinette cabinet and then up to the TV.
What floor plan do you have?? And where would you have the TV located???
The big rear dinette in my 13 footer is a permanent bed as I have a couch up front to sit on. So my TV/entertainment center is mounted in the rear street side between the windows. Perfect spot for watching TV in bed or while on the couch.
The entertainment center is tuck into the corner and even if I were to ever make up the dinette 2 people could sit on that side.

Not sure what number my layout is, but we have a 16 with a side dinette and a shower/potty. Would never have a travel trailer without a potty/shower. On the wall of the outside of the bath, above one of the seats in the side dinette, I installed the TV on that wall, Because the wall is just 1/8 inch thick, I had to use a double on the shower side of the wall. I used a small cutting board of very dense thick plastic. It worked out great to have the full motion mount attach to that wall. We also have a blue ray player as well for all of our movies. We set that on the dinette table and sit back on the large bed with wedge pillows behind us and watch movies! The mount is a full swivel mount that moves out and angles toward us.

You know, I was just thinking, Duh!!!!!...."Street side" that is generally the side you have most electric, water, sewer and TV connects at a campground. Once and awhile you find them on the other side but not often.
