Hi, everybody. I'm new to SOI. We plan to pick up a 16' #4 layout in summer '17. I've generally been very happy with Scamp information and responsiveness of salesman, and the exchanges on the SOI forums have been really helpful and interesting. A couple weeks back I was poking around in YouTube and found this short review by a new Scamp owner. Wondering what all you more experienced folks might have to say about it. Haven't heard back yet from my Scamp contact, but he may just be busy. thanks for whatever thoughts you can share, and regards to all.

Bump. There are a couple of unflattering videos out there in youtube land. Quality control is one of my concerns about buying a Scamp. But issues seems to be common in the rv industry, based upon what I've read and viewed.
Well, as he says in the video - he didn't mention the good things, and they FAR outweigh the problems. Also, in the comments he says that most all of the problems have been resolved and he now has over 10,000 miles on it and all is well.
I think the moral of this story, and several others that I have heard about, is to expect some imperfections that need to be resolved, but long-term, problems are few.
All I can say is that the trailer will still be operating 40 years later, unless wrecked, and can still look pretty good if maintained well. Oh and it may sell for more than he bought it for 10 years from now.

Hey, thanks to you guys for your responses. I tend to take most of what I see on YT with at least a grain of salt, so I wasn't really that concerned about the few problems the guy mentioned. My wife and I have visited two couples in eastern PA now who have Scamps (and they've been very generous in answering questions and letting us look over the trailers thoroughly). Everybody I've contacted has been enthusiastic about the product, and as a whole the company seems to have a very loyal following, so we're not wavering in our interest at all. Actually getting more excited by the week to make the trek out to MN in July '17. But it's also reassuring to have all your input, so thanks again. I hope to interact more on the Forums in the future.

Jonathan,
Keep asking any questions that come up along the way. You'll be Scamping soon and will love it.

And I should also mention that late this past week I did hear back from my Scamp contact with a very thorough and reasonable response to the issues in that video.

There are three of them on Youtube i watch from time to time. The vary first thing he said was more things right then wrong. I just like the thought people take the time to put this out for us to watch. The two other ones are a 2013 Scamp the video was taken inside shed its a vary good review and the second one is from Suburban Hippie his reviews seem like the one we are talking about but i get the feeling he really likes his Scamp. Our new 2017 Scamp 13' standard, no bath will be finished in late March can't wait to go camping NO TENT !
Have Scamp will travel !
