Hello All,
Looking for some help on determining exactly what this line is for. When we bought the Scamp we found that this line was broken where it exits through the floor and outside the vehicle. It exits just below the gray water tank. I imagine this has to be some kind of drainage/overflow hose but I have been unsuccessful in finding an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also for orientation purposes the green/white hose is next to the fresh water tank. Thanks!
Is it the corrugated green/white hose you are asking about? The photos don't help much - maybe in part because of the funky way this site handles adding photos. The second one is too dark.
The corrugated hose looks like the gray tank vent (and overflow). It just comes out of the gray water tank, loops up to create a loop higher than the tank, then exits through the floor. If you ever overfill you gray water tank, the water will come out here.
For reference, here is my vent / overflow.. its a gray corrugated pipe. Also barely visible behind it is the drain hose from the sink. It was clear but is dark now with gunk. Ignore the thin hose on the left and the black cable in the middle.. that is just something in storage and my user added cable TV line.
Thanks so much for your response Gordon. Yes that seems to be exactly what it is. Here are much clearer pictures with the bench removed.
Another hose I am curious about is the hose exiting the fresh water tank. It seems to serve a similar purpose as the corrugated hose...overflow for the fresh water tank. My concern is the black all throughout the line. Is this something that usually clears up when we do a bleach solution to clean when de-winterizing or should we replace this?
Thanks in advance!

Does that hose also go through the floor and is open at the end? That would be a vent but must be an older style than mine.
I would think that sanitizing would clean that up some but maybe not completely. My vent line is not clear so I have no idea what it looks like inside. Mine is also impossible to reach unless I remove the bench. It looks like yours could be replaced easier so maybe its worth doing.
But this is my opinion (only): It is important to sanitize the system to keep the amount of gunk down, but its about impossible to make it anything close to sterile. When sanitized I think the water is fine for dishes, washing people, etc. but for drinking and cooking I use bottled water or a separate potable water container that I fill with water that has been run though a filter.
BTW, the blue painters tape on the floor. Looks like someone redid the floor and maybe used the tape to protect the floor when they cut they hole for the gray water vent line... maybe they never finished it?
Gordon,
Yes, that hose leaves the fresh water tank and exits straight outside. What is the purpose of the vent?
IN regards to the painters tape...we actually just finished removing the carpets and doing new flooring. I had put that there since the exit for the corrugated hose was an open invitation for any bugs and/or critters to crawl right inside. The corrugated hose was broken (almost looked like cut) when we purchased it.
I definitely agree with the water usage being solely used for things other than consumption.
Thanks!

Air must vent out for water to go in.
I usually use stainless safety wire to pull a small piece of cloth through the line to clean it up. Just disconnect at the tank fitting and pull to the outside.
