Vent replacement

Hello I'm a newbie here! I have recently purchased a 1984 16' Scamp and need to replace the vent as it is leaking. My question is should I use rivets or screws for the new vent? Any input would be appreciated! Thank you!

Prefer Screws

Personally, I prefer SS screws but Scamp doesn't have wood backing due to the rivets used on the vents. If you want to upgrade the vent change out to use SS screws you simply need to use some 1x and build then glue up a frame on the inside which can then be screwed into.

The simpler path is to just rivet the new vent with fresh butyl tape.

What vent size?

Working on my 1983 Scamp and a previous numbskull decided to put roof sealant all over the vent to seal it up. Didn't take out the vent, just shoved the stuff in it. I can't get a true measurement with all the gunk. Is the vent opening a standard 14" square? Any reccommendations on replacements? Not looking forward to getting that thing off!!
