We are in the market for a new 16ft Scamp. We have never done this before. Is there a good guide to selecting a vehicle to pull a trailer this size?

Towing a 16-ft
Tow vehicle needs to be rated to pull the weight of the RV. Both the total weight, and the hitch weight. Do not go by the Scamp factory weight, go by what the scale says. Do not ask online opinions on what the vehicle will tow, look it up in YOUR book or door jam. My 16 is one of the heavy ones at 3,100 total and about 300 on the hitch, most are MUCH lighter. You will need a brake controller also. If you get a vehicle good for 3,500 lbs or more, you should be in good shape.
I towed a 1998 16 foot scamp(1550lbs ) with a 1991 dodge caravan 4 cylinder 2.5 liter engine, again follow the vehicle manufacture tow rating recommendations, , like others have posted , you must also go by the door sticker axle ratings as most north american vehicles have many different options that affect axle weight ,
