Squeaky door

Just wondering if anyone has had to deal with a squeaky door? And what they did for it..Our door just sounds awful with this squeak and its embrassing to say the least when someone wants to see the inside and that thing squeaks like that on a new one. We did know if we should try spraying something on the hinges or not,guy we talked to at Scamp didnt seem to know what to do....Wish we lived closed to Mn we would take it to them :-)

Squeaky Door

My door was doing the same thing.

Yesterday I put a very small squirt of WD40 on both the hinge pin and brass ball, wiped off the excess, and then moved the door back and forth a few times. The squeak disappeared immediately.

Squeaky Door

A drop of oil will do the same thing.  Even a little vegetable oil will work if it bothers you while out camping.

Graphite

Never have had to grease a squeek on a door yet, seems like I should have run into that by now.  smiley

I might consider trying graphite instead of an oil or silicone spray but all will probably work fine. The difference would be that the oil/silicone products attract dirt/dust, where the graphite is a dry powder and won't attract the dirt. Graphite is what you should use in your house door key locks when they get tight for the very same reason that the locks will gum up worse if oil products are used.

Having not tried the graphite yet on one of those Scamp ball hinges can't say for sure that it is a solution but it should work. I'm going to try some on the Scamp 5er later this summer.

How about the dry Silicone

How about dry Silicone spray? That's what I used on the slide runners of our 5th wheel trailer.

Thank you all for the replies on squeaky door

He will try something dry if he can find it,he's not a fan of putting anything oily or greasey on nothing,It will have to wait a few weeks now tho as we are on the way to Ks to house and puppy sit while family member goes in for a knee replacement and we left the Scamp at home in storage this trip

Verdict on squeaky door solution?

So a couple years later what has worked best? My door sounds like a bad haunted house sound effect.
