Hi everyone! We’ve recently purchased a used 1975 Scamp 13 that needs some repairs. In trying to solve the mystery of how to keep the door shut while towing, I discovered that there are some more substantial issues. Some attempts by a previous owner (not the kind folks who sold it to us!) to repair fiberglass and replace wood flooring appear to have been done incorrectly and have failed. The front passenger side corner of the hull does not seem to be properly reinforced or connected to the frame. Furthermore, while driving over some rough highways last weekend, the bench seems to have popped out of place. I was able to slap it back into the right position but shouldn’t it have been bolted or screwed down somehow? The wood underneath the bench appears to have been replaced quite poorly and is not even fixed to the steel frame.
Can anyone provide some resources or insight as to how the hull is supposed to connect to the frame, how the fiberglass is supposed to connect to the wood flooring panels under the bench, and how it’s all intended to work structurally in the front end of the trailer?
I filmed a YouTube video. Hopefully it’s helpful in showing what I’m dealing with. Link:Scamp 13 Fiberglass Issues Video
