I want to second Lynn's comment about running the fridge on DC. That's what started my solarization search.
I have seen the recommendation about cooling the fridge down and hitting the road. I wonder if the insulation is sub par in my fridge, because it warms right up when it's turned off. I keep a thermometer inside, and I have arrived at my destination with a temp of 60 (starting in the morning at 30). A number of foods will start to spoil at that temperature.
