Slept in my Scamp for the first time - ouch!

Hi!

We just bought a 2010 13' Scamp and I slept in it for the first time and had a horrible night's sleep...almost as bad as tent camping because the cushions are so hard.  Any advice on something to soften it up that can be store easily?

Thanks!

Soften the bed

Congrats on ur new to you Scamp!  We immediately put a 2" memory foam topper and custom cut it to fit on our trailers. It takes the seams of the cushions out and turns the bed into a pretty good experience.  Just the cushions is a bit rough as you found out. The toppers aren't too expensive and ur neighborhood Wally is a good place to get one.  They also roll up and can go in the back of the truck when not needed.

Tell us some more about ur new Scamp, and we love pics...  smiley

Roll-up Bed

My wife, Pam, cut foam to fit and then sewed sheets to fit the foam.  Now the whole bed can be rolled up an fastened with velcro straps, ready to be unrolled the next night.

Softer bed

Lynn, your "Role-Up" Bed sounds great. We won't  take delivery of our Scamp untill the end of June, but we are enteraining our selves planning. Where do you store your bed in the daytime when you are in camp?

Roll-up Specifics

We used regular, non-memory, foam because it seemed more flexible.  Pam made an envelope from two mattress pads that's folded and tucked in along the straight side - no fasteners.  The now covered foam is softer, can still be flipped, and easily taken apart for washing.  Covered foam, fitted sheets, blanket, and pet hair catcher can now all be rolled together and fastened with velcro straps, ready for the next night.  The bed can be rolled up and the table back in place by the time coffee is started.

We have a Scamp 16 with front bench/bunk and we stand the roll and stack pillows in the corner.  Bedding can just as well be put in the car at the campsite.
