We have the 13 foot scamp std fiberglass with big bed. This gives a 10 inch wide side cabinet by the door with two small doors to access. Has anyone enlarged these and added more shelves. It looks like they could be cut out lower as well. When I do this I plan on reinforcing the cabinet on the inside as this seems to be a stress point on the roof. I have had to replace rivets there on the top.
Thanks Dean K
Dean... that seems to be a good idea! I too have a 2015 13er and the bigger bed...I am planning on cutting a same size opening (as the other two doors) on the bottom. I know there is not much there but the wheel well... but I am thinking it would be perfect for smaller bagged dog food or anything contained in loose small bags.... maybe potatoes, etc.
Anyone have any words of wisdom about this????
We did this. We cut the bottom opening to make it taller and cut another opening below it. We used the original door for the new bottom opening and made a new door for the middle. It has made the space much more usable.
Glad you posted pics! Looks great! I may rethink and do it with a longer middle door as you did, and a smaller lower compartment. THANKS!
Nice modification. What did you use to make your cuts? Jigsaw?

I tried an electric saw, but there was too much dust. So I did it with a fine bladed key hole saw.
I cut a door opening in the lower "bin" of the closet in our 2006 16' to add shelves. I ordered from Scamp the size I needed to match what they had installed and also bought edge strips for the new cutout. It looks like it came that way. I also used 1x2 wood strips inside the new hole for shelf support, structural integrity, and hinge mounting. Our new closet now holds all our folded clothes.

Very good idea about the 1x2 wood strips.... I was thinking of the same and for the same reasons.
We fitted a piece of plywood that sits on top to the wheel well at the bottom on the clothes closet. It has a finger holes in one front corner, so it can easily be lifted up and out. We use the area below, around the wheel well, to store a water hose, an electric cord and the like.
I like your idea of the plywood on top of the wheel well itself... adds another shelf... and storage under it too! Thanks!
