Screen door lock

Robert mentioned looking for a screen door lock in another thread so I thought I'd share with you folks my screen door lock.   It's a 5 inch piece of 5/8" interior and 3/4" exterior  square aluminum stock with on side cut out.    This leaves a "u" shaped piece that fits perfectly over the screen door frame and when slipped in place  locks the screen door.

A Scamp friend from Montana, cuddo's to Lee Greer, told me about theirs.  Lee and I were having a discussion about my screen door popping open because it fit so smug to the frame.  Lee went into their Scamp and out he came with his solution to their same problem.

Here's a couple of picture for you.  My lock looks nasty because it rubs against the center brace for my awning which is stored behind the screen door.

Nice idea

That looks good. My former Scamp 19' the screen door would open on it's own if the wind blew too much or if the trailer wasn't perfectly level. I bought small rectangle shaped magnets and glued them on the inside of the door each side of the center seam. With the door closed the magnets engaged and it solved the problem. I no longer have it or I would have included a picture.

"U" shaped aluminum

My local hardware store (Ace) stocks "u" shaped aluminum to cover the edges of plywood. Comes in a couple different sizes. The magnets or even magnetic strips seem like good ideas too.
