Our 2003 standard 16 does not have a screen door. Any suggestions for a making a door or installing something like a magic screen door? I cannot tell from photos how the factory screen door works.

Screen door
We don't have a screen door yet on our Escape, although it isn't really needed in AZ it is still nice to have one. Where you are at in AL the mosquitos can carry off the family dog, so probably very needed.
I have seen these screen doors used with pretty good results and they are now carried at the Depot. Easy to Install Instant Screen Door
Having not used this product yet, I can't say for sure it will work, but it is very similar to the one's I've seen on trailers out in the wild and it's only $20.
