Scamp 19 Ft Owners - How Do You Secure Your Battery and Propane Tanks

Hello,

I am considering getting a 19 ft scamp and would like to know how others lock up their propane tanks and batteries since they are stored externally on the trailer .

Thanks,

STB

securing batteries on scamp 19

Hi Sharon,

Welcome to SOI. This is how I secure two 6v batteries on my scamp. There is a hinged screen that can be padlocked in the up position. The generator was stored on the top shelf at one time but I prefer to carry it in my tow vehicle. I carry a tool box in addition to the batteries on the top shelf now. The lower shelf has room for 2 x 20# propane tanks and a 3 gallon can for generator/extra truck gas. I've never worried about locking the propane tanks, although it could be easily done with a chain or cable. This modification was done by the PO but works for me. It was well thought out and I wouldn't change anything .

The extra shelf is a great

The extra shelf is a great idea. I use some of that space for one of those 5x5 inch vinyl fence post sleeves, where I store my water hose and a few other items.

I have not secured the battery in any special way. In order to remove the tanks I have to use a wrench. I simply added a second nut to secure the wing nut on the threaded rod. The idea is to make it a little harder to remove and thus discourage the would be thief. This all depends on what level of comfort you desire.
