The headroom in the 16ft Casita is a little less then in the Scamps but we did not want the AC unit up on the top so thats why we got the 16ft instead.Launey says its not a problem for him,and thats all that counts, since its never a issue with me being shorter lol
Oh no Doug,we have AC its just that on the 16ft Casita's they put them inside instead of on the roof and thats what we wanted.Found out yesterday that it does a great job in here as it was pretty warm in Tucson....This morning had the heater on,we have electric so are using our little ceramic heater but do know the furnace works as we were only having to use it a few days ago.We had asked Scamp to put one on the inside on a new 16 and they said they wouldnt do that:-)
Oh, so you DO have a AC. OK, we do as well and ours too is on the roof. We also have a heater as it came with it. Was not aware Scamp would not put a heater in, thought all Scamps were able to have heaters put in as an option.
Doug what I meant was that the AC sits inside on the Casita as oposed to on the roof ,thats what we wanted, not on the roof.Scamp would not put the AC on the inside, they only put them on the roof, you can get furnaces on either the Scamps or the Casitas, and we need one as well, because of the places we camp, hot in the day time but cold at nights, and Casita's put a window in the side of the bathroom along with a top vent,Scamps have quit putting that window in their bathrooms and I wanted that, another reson we chose the Casita this time...BTW our buyer of our Scamp is just loving it,she is having a ball in it,she keeps in touch with me,tho she had to put it in winter storage as she lives north in Salt Lake city.We are happy that it has such a good home, they become a family memeber after a person use's and spends so much time in one
Ah, got ya! Good deal. Yes, when at the factory, the folks told me that moisture build up in the bath was causing big problems. Even the windows were fogging. They now install an noisy vent. I think in large part Scamp is stuck in the 70's with their designs. The other brother who makes the Casita has it going! More storage, brighter inside, and just nicer in my opinion. Now that saying, we really do love and enjoy our Scamp, however, it is dated and all others are as well. The reason why most Scamps look so great is what owners have done with them! Our is certainly no exception, as it was Dawn that made the cushions and curtains. Scamp needs to get a new look. They need a whole new approach to making the Scamp, new molds, new ideas.
We so love our 16 ft. Scamp. We had to drive from the St. Louis area to Columbia SC to get it! One must be ready at the chance to seize quickly and be ready to purchase. Ours came almost exactly as we were going to order from the factory. We love the shower/potty option, this was a absolute for us. Make sure you get a good crank out awning, as being out of the Scamp is essential. A used Casita is also a good option and many are out there right now. Good websites to find them too.
Cathy,we did manage to get out of Ks while the weather was still half way decent (for there anyhow} Tho that nasty wind was either blowing right into the front end or the bad side winds all the way across till yesterday, In Tucson now for a few days of just kinda laying around hopefully ha
What a wonderful trip. Seeing so much of America. Taking it easy is what you are supposed to be doing! Yes, it IS a sad sight to see our Scamp with it up on jacks and the wheel pants on. We cover it tomorrow with the Cal Mark cover. Its then final till next April or so. The long and dreadful winter will be here soon and I shall live for my other hobby, ham radio. Oh the housework never ends too!

Earlene: Looks like a great combo. Good time to get moving before winter starts to set in here. Have a safe trip and keep in touch.
Oh, I'm just green with envy. New trailer and leaving Kansas. I'm next!
