Memory foam mattress question

Greetings!

I am looking for a memory foam mattress that can be cut to fit an unusual (as in, not square) shape.   Does anyone here have any experience doing this?  Any suggestions as to which mattress might work well for this? Some ship with stitched cloth covers....so that might not work.  I have heard that an electric carving knife works well for this, but am always open to suggestions. Anyone have any advice..... Both as to a particular mattress that would be "trim able", as well as to an easy way to trim it?

foam

We shopped additional memory foam today.  We saw a nice 3" or 4" for a hundred bucks at Sam's Club.  Since we already have a 2" all we wanted was another 2".  We found what we wanted next door at WalMart for around 50 bucks.

We've cut form, tight cell and memory foam with an old fashion electric knife.  They work very, very well.  Various instructional sites say it is best to support your edge that you're cutting and use the edge to guide your electric knife, keeping it vertical so the cut is straight up and down. Similar to a fence on a table saw. I agree with that advice.

There were a good number of "how to" foam cutting with electric knife videos on YouTube.

Day late and a dollar short

For what it's worth, this company is worth looking at.

More than offering different thicknesses of toppers and mattresses, they offer different density weights, which equates to firmness.

We opted for a firmness of 6.2 lb in our popup. At first it feels flat, then in short order, you sink in and have equal support on all points; good for back problems.

and an ebay search:

We haven't tried the "gel infused" type.

Memory foam

Don't forget that memory foam, until it warms up, will be quite hard (rock-like in fact) when its cold (maybe below 45 degrees f or so).  That might be something to consider if you plan a lot of cold weather camping.

If budget allows you could go to natural latex.

The other issue with memory foam mattresses is:
