Folks,
Our 19 footer has sat for awhile, the last plates were 2004. The amonia has leaked out of the frig. There appears to have never been a seperate black water tank, The fresh water filter appears to have frozen and broke. The cushion covers have become very fragile. The red carpet has faded to a pale pink. A previous strong wind has rendered the awning useless. The good things are the tail lights and turn signals work as does the A/C!
My wife and I plan to use this camper a lot. Half of our camping is without external power. We also plan to camp in freezing weather.
We have a work list for us. new axle , new small fresh water tank under the sink, install two new hand water pumps, remove toilet and base tank, add a portable toilet, add solar water heating capability, replumb grey water system, replace cushions, add a new mattress, replace carpet with a hard floor covering. replace frig, remove front hatch, and add a Fantastic Fan. Did I say that we going to spend hours cleaning?
We do want to keep the shower operational, but with a hand pump that is self draining. I am planning to remove most of the potential freezing problems so we can winter tow. I guess that we are still embracing 1950's technology. In the end, the only things that will run off the battery will be the furnace, fans, and lights.

Thanks Greg. It sounds like we have a lot of the same problems. I'll be following this closely.
I did get the rock shield put on today. I can hardly wait to start cleaning the chalk off the fiberglass, I need just a bit cooler weather for that. I do have to replace the floor under the fresh water tank.
I need to find the instructions for posting photos.
I'm hoping that pulling the old carpet will get rid of the stale odor.

Well, that pink carpet is now in the trash. Lilly and I ripped it out this afternoon. It wasn't all that difficult. There was some nasty black mold under the carpet. We'll take off to the look at floor coverings tomorrow afternoon.
I bought a new battery for the 5er today. Installed it and nothing lit up, maybe a fuse or something cut. The more that I look, the more I find. I think the converter is for looks only and is not functioning.

Hi Folks,
I have pulled and burned the red carpet that was in our 19. There is now tile on the floor,, as in glued. We have replaced the cushion covers with pillow cases that were made to fit. The good news is that they are washable! Lilly made them! I have a new converter / charger to install. I have retimed the door lock so that when it is locked from the outside the latch cannot drift open. We now have the brakes hooked up and a new controller in the truck.
We took it to the farm Friday afternoon and spent the night. A furnace would have been nice! I will have a new propane furnace eventually. Lilly and I had a very pleasant night camping,

You say that you installed a rock shield. What material did you use? How did you install it?
I may have not used the right term. Our 19 is old enough that it has a window in the front of the trailer. The shield for the window came with the trailer but, there was no hardware for it. I had bought new hardware of it. The hardware is now on and the shield is in place.
Sorry for the confusion.
