Lights still pulling off battery

Hello!

Just pulled in to the Porcupine Mountains and setting up camp. I need a little help troubleshooting of possible...I can get everything running that works off 120v (ac, fridge) but all the lights are still pulling off the battery and my battery isn’t that strong.

I’ve checked the fuses and everything is good. I also ran an extension cord to the fridge in case something was going on with the fridge. Still nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks for help!

Re: Lights still pulling off battery

Your lights and other 12v DC loads pull power from the battery unless you're connected to shore power. When connected to shore power, your electrical center (where your fuses and breakers are) has a 12v DC Transformer/Charger that provides DC power and charges your battery. If this is not functioning the 12v DC power will be drawn from your battery until it is depleted. First check your 120v AC breakers and your 12v DC fuses. The includes the one inline at your battery (depending on the model/year). Sometimes it's the simplest things. You might also get erratic 12v DC if your battery has failed and won't accept a charge. The easy way to check this is to disconnect from shore power, carefully disconnect the positive (+) lead from the battery, and reconnect the shore power. Be careful to insulate the lead with a rag or some electrical tape so it doesn't come in contact with anything metal such as the trailer frame. If your 12v DC loads (lights, etc.) work then it's likely your battery. If no 12v DC devices work then it's likely the transformer charger. I hope this gets you started on your repair process.

12 volt problems?

So, in effect your battery is not charging when you are plugged into shore power??

Did your converter come unplugged when you pulled the 30 amp cord out of the mouse hole?

It's the plug on the lower right of this JPG, yours may not be the same.

(This is the back of the electrical panel, located under the street side rear dinette seat on mine.)

Thank you!

Thank you everyone! A unattached cord was the culprit! I had to have my child crawl in there to see it and plug it back in but we got it!

Thanks again! So grateful for this group!

That is what was wrong with

That is what was wrong with mine. On mine it wiggled itself loose while traveling. I taped it up so it cannot work loose again and check whenever i set up on arrival.  Carl
