Does anybody know how much heat is generated by the propane burner on the stock refrigerator? I need to replace the insulation in the cabinet where the refrigerator is and I have some 2" XPS blue foam available to me. I like the XPS board as its it cleaner and easier to work with. If it is safe, I would rather use that than buying a bat of R13 fiberglass, splitting it and then throwing away the rest.
Thanks
Sam
On our 2019 the fridge was surrounded with Fiberglass Insulation and was a mess but I went with it after removing it to run some wires. The propane flame is small but very hot and especially near the boiler/chimney portion. The sides and top may be ok but I dont feel good about it, Sorry Others here might see it different. I also used a bit more insulation to keep any heat away from the sides and top to reduce the heat in the camper.

That chimney/vent is what had me concerned. Had it been just a 12v/120v system I would not have worried about it. After having seen EPS burn when some welding slag fell right on a hole in a welding blanket I REALLY do not want to be in a trailer if it catches fire!
I just bought some r13 at the Big Blue Box (lowes) I will give the scrap to the Boss; he has given me all kinds of material for this project. I think I owe him.
Sounds like a logical choice No one wants to deal with a RV fire. they are fast and hot and lots of toxic stuff from all the plastic and resin if burned. I am with you?

It has been a while but I think I measured 300f at the chimney. For a heat shield near the chimney I used a double layer cookie sheet which worked great for what I was doing.

Salukis, we are one the same page for sure.
Eddie, the cookie sheet is an interesting thought.
I will post some pictures when done in the next few weeks.
