Insulation

Hi everyone getting ready to put a big order in fir mt 13ft. I have it completely gutted. One of the things I need to buy is the insulation. I plan on covering it with headliner material. I was thinking about using jut the stuff like you see under carpet in a car. I have seen the bubble stuff they are using now. Would that be better and would headliner be able to be glued to it?

Think Lite

John,

In all you do to refurbish your trailer you should think lite. Keep in mined your tow vehicles towing limit as well as the trailer tire and axil weight parameters.  Plus you will want to pack camping gear in both.

Happy trails!

Insulating

Hi John,

Most use Reflectix or some modern improved versions of it.  The most important thing is choosing a good glue. If the reflectix layer is glued properly the headliner material is then glued over the reflectix. You want to do those steps well or you will get headliner sag somewhere down the line, and that's no fun.

Headliner cuts and application are one of the toughest labor jobs on rehabbing Scamps, having it completely gutted is key and hopefully you have some experience in applying headliners, if not, you will. smiley

Have you picked out the headliner material yet? We're definitely going to want pics as you progress!

Thanks Greg. I will look into that. I do have experience with headliners. I did automotive interior while iI was tough college. Do you recommend certain glue? I'm working on pictures. I wantedto have more before/ after pictures so you can really see what is going on. Thanks again.
