Before:
We bought some LED lights from Ikea and with a few small holes, wire nuts, and white gorilla tape we replaced one of the ugly florescent under cabinet lights. The converter that came with the lights converted the AC to 12V DC, so I just cut out the wires from the lights and hooked them to one side of the provided switch and then hooked the other side of the switch to some DC lights nearby. Sorry I didn't get a picture of my wiring, but it was just dirt simple.

This was a very simple job that looks better than I expected. Still need to get rid of that 120V AC line left over from the previous light.
Obviously, this allows for good light whether hooked up or not and the low profile lights and switch take up a lot less room physically and visually. I was happy that the light is a warm color, as some LEDs we have bought have been more harsh.
Looks good. Instead of pulling the wire out you might try to run it up into the upper cabinet. I mounted some115V Ikea lights with 1' flexable shafts, for reading lights to the ends of the kitchen cabinet.

Thanks.
Yeah, we are trying to think about what we could use the 120 in the cabinet for, but we already have the DC spots on the ends of the cabinets with LEDs in them. I'm not a big fn of them, but my wife thinks they are really cute, so there's that.
