Earlier this summer, I wanted to buy a small vintage trailer for short fun trips (we have a 5th wheel for extended vacations). After some misfires in the shopping process, my husband suggested a Scamp for a couple reasons. Number one because I wanted to take the trailer out by myself, and as I am not very mechanically inclined traipsing around with a 50-yr-old tin can is not such a good plan. The decent vintage trailers were quite pricey too, and I really didn't want to do the "shows", just have something cute to camp with. I have always liked Scamps, so we bought a new-to-us 2013 13'. I love it! I had a lot of fun redecorating it...slipcovers, a cute awning, orange polka dot curtains (my husband actually picked out that material!) and I really lucked out with the flooring. Discontinued VCT flooring that a local flooring company was kind enough to track down for me. We have taken it camping twice this summer, and I am watching the weather and hoping to make a quick dash to da UP for a fall color tour.

Thank you! I adore my Jeep, and of course now I have an Egg to love too. My husband was all-in in helping me create my Ultimate Girl Cave--he had to dash downstate to snatch it up on a holiday weekend, installed the awning rail, laid the flooring, and of course picked out those orange curtains! Both he and our collie like camping in it too.

looks nice inside and out. Even better with the tow vehicle
Wow! What a cutie! You sure snagged a neat one. Hope to see you out on Scamp outings.

Thank you Doug! My Egg was truly in like-new condition when we bought it this summer--we were thrilled to find it, and we only had to drive 100 miles to get it. Ha! My husband was prepared to drive for a couple days to find a really good one....
A Scamp rally would be awesome! I bet you could get a good amount of people interested in one in Michigan's UP. Close to MN and WI, where a lot of Scamps live!

Rhonda,
A spring Scamp out at Tahquamenon Falls State Park or Porcupine Mountain sounds like it might be in order.
If we are going to do it...we need to book soon.

ol' 13 foot Scamp..not much but it's mine
Hi Bill:
I was thinking later in the summer. We have camped for years in da UP, and the weather forecast runs along these lines:
April - lots of snow
May - snow or mosquitoes
June - mosquitoes and black flies
July - mosquitoes and black flies maybe til the end of the month
August - October HEAVEN!!!!
You haven't lived until you have seen a large black cloud of mosquitoes in da UP. Think of a flock of migrating birds...

Hi Rhonda,
Just love your slipcovers! How much material did you use?
Rhonda, You win the prize with that floor, those curtains, that awning, that doormat, that Jeep! We are just two and a half hrs from the bridge so we would love a rally in the da Upper Penisula. Eh? Last October we had a freak cold spell in Traverse City and the water in the Scamp froze. I think we will camp in a winterized camper in October from now on. LOL
