And I really miss it, I am looking at some alternatives. I have been rv'ing for about 35 years and with only one exception felt we have benefited so much from the neat feature of a vent. My scamp is a 1999 and has the escape hatch. I have thought of just cutting a hole in the roof and adding one. what i noticed is that with the windows so high up the wall relative to the bed I wonder if the cooling effect of the fans is a noticiable? Thanks for your experience. PG

since I don't have a Fantastic Fan....
Hey Philip,
Sounds like you're really enjoying your new to you Egg. I'm pretty certain the Scamp factory installs the fantastic fan when ordered by cutting a normal vent opening a bit forward of the escape hatch. That allows for a standard setup for the fantastic fan in the roof position. I've always wished they would use an escape hatch side or back window and get away from the oversize vent/escape hatch on the roof, but alas that is probably wishful thinking on my part.

I installed a Fantastic Fan in a 13' Casita and the square 17" hole is all that is needed (I believe it was 17",ie:standard roof vent). I put some 3/4" butyl tape between the fan base and the roof and screwed it into the roof. two wire hookup inside and your done. If your slightly handy it's a pretty easy job. try not to use silicone, the butyl tape is much better. Now fantastic fan makes two types high profile which is higher outside and flush with the roof inside...... Or Low profile which is lower outside but protrudes a bit more on the inside.
go to this site and anything you could possibly ever want to know is answered there.... I actually called the owner who was very hepful and scamp and casitas have a very thin roof so he would tell you which one to get to which i got the high profile so i wouldn't hit my head inside.

We got our Scamp 16' with a factory mounted fan. It's behind the larger ceiling vent, right over the table/bed. Really nice blowing in on a warm night.
