Fool's Gathering, Whiskeytown Lake, March 30-April 3, 2017

If you are wondering why it's called the "Fool's Gathering", the gathering occurs over April 1 - April Fool's Day!

This will be just a simple FG gathering at Brandy Creek RV Park in Whiskeytown NRA, 14 miles west of Redding, off of CA Hwy 299.  Senior Access Pass holders have free admission, and half price camping fees ($7.50).  Pay when you get there.  No reservations can be made.  32 sites in the park are available on a first come first served basis.  That means you could come and go as you please.  We have been told that use of this RV park is light at this time of year.  There are no planned activities so you can act as your own activity director.

The RV park is near the lake and is a simple, paved area in the trees with a dump station & fresh water supply (no restrooms near by, no hookups) and a few picnic tables. However, the lake is always full for those who like to kayak or fish (all types of boats are available to rent). If you are up for it, a refreshing swim at one of the 3 beach/swimming areas. There are miles of hiking/biking trails, some leading to 4 different waterfalls and 2 mountain tops. Only 7 miles to Shasta State Historical Park for a step back in time to the gold rush era. You can also run back into exciting Redding for a night out if you have a need.   The weather may be warm and sunny, or it could be cold and rainy, or something in between.  At least it would not be 110 degrees in the shade!  The altitude of the area is about 1300 feet so snow is unlikely.

If we have piqued your interest, you can contact us through the PM service of this website for more information.
