First time Scamp owner......Now what?

I feel like I lucked into a bargain- a complete stock ‘93 16’ Scamp with all parts there- except roof vent cover- for $1,500 (Is that good?)

I was just looking for a hunting trailer, but now my wife is really into it and wants to go to a Scamp Camp! (Happy wife, happy life. I no longer have a hunting trailer!)

So where do I start? My first thoughts:

1- new propane regulator/valve

2- grease hubs

3- new 12v tow plug

4- flushed the water lines

5- ?

6- ?

And so on.....

What to watch for? (She’s been parked for a couple years) The headliner is sagging- any repair tips? Is it easy to replace the incandescent/fluorescent with LEDs?

Any newbie tips would be very welcome!

Check the tires

Replacing lamps with LEDs is easy, deciding what to order not so much. You will have many choices. The local auto parts store is usually higher priced than e-bay. Tires can look good but be old, check the date codes. If they were protected from the sun they may last five or six years.  Someone will jump in with a recommended 3m spray adhesive to re-stick the head liner. I would note that “hunting trailer” is generally code for “this thing has had better days” good luck.

You may have a bargain depending on how handy and mechanically inclined you are. My wife and I just purchased a 97 16' that has needed more TLC than I originally thought. WD-40! As an ex mechanic and some previous experience with a pop up, I offer the following:

1: Tires is a great suggestion

2. Service your hubs, clean drums, brake hardware, check shoes for wear, clean and repack bearings, check your brake magnets, check and lube moving parts

3. Tow connector, clean or replace

4. Running lights

5. Comfort systems in order of your own priority, water, gas, AC, heat

6. Roof integrity, check caulking and rivet covers
