Can anyone give me a part number for a dexter axle that will fit and 81 13 foot scamp? I have a factory with in an hour of me. That is why I may want to go with them.

Dexter axle
Here is the axle number of the axle on our 2015 13ft Scamp. 4262377. It is a bolt on axle. If the axle you have is not a bolt on axle you should up-grade to a bolt on axle.
Dexter makes a good axle and the Scamp 13 uses the Torflex #9 axle. With a 81 S-13 the axle swing arms face forward. A lot of people choose to turn the axle around to face to the rear like the newer Scamps when replacing the axle. If you choose to stay with the orig. config. and you add brakes they will have to be swapped to the correct orientation. You will have to order the axle through a distributor usually Redneck Trailer. They will have a worksheet with about 10 option choices and measurements to fill out when you order your new axle. S-13's come with a 10 deg up angle swing arm. I usually go with a 10 deg. down angle for more ground clearance but it also raise your hitch and door sill height.

The axle on our 2015 13ft Scamp is a Dexter.
I just got my 1983, Scamp trailer replaced by Little House Custom in TX. Larry gave me this information.The Bolt on Dextoer axle has 10" Brakes , 4.5 raised up.
The PO on the label is actually our distributors PO to Dexter. We just order verbally. If you want permanent documentation of how it was built, it's all on that label.
HF =hub face dimension
OB = outside of mounting bracket to outside of mounting bracket
10U= 10 degree up
10H= Dexter #10 axle
2500lbs is the suspension capacity, even though a #10 can be built up to 3500lbs capacity.
A replacement could be ordered 20 years from now using that data.
There's also a serial number in front of the word "Capacity" all of the specifications for that axle are encoded into that serial number in "Dexter speak" Including the electric brakes and the lug bolt spacing. The serial number alone is enough to order a replacement from Dexter.

The first photo is of a label that came off my axle (2015 13' Scamp).
The second photo is of an axle I stumbled upon. What I like about the second photo is that the axle is ADJUSTABLE! You can actually change the height of your camper depending on what you would like (at any time, at least from what little I was able to read about it).
