Caulking concern

We were winterizing our 2019 13 scamp yesterday and I got up on a ladder to wash the roof before covering it. I was suddenly aware that the window above the stove area and the right rear window were never caulked fully on top. The center 50-70% was completely open to the rain and dew since being built. There are drain areas in the window frame but are not exposed to the outer caulked area. We never noticed water inside but it would likely have been trapped inside the walls and Now I do not know how to go forward with drying it out properly. I know these are fiberglass trailers but all the windows and roof structure is wood fiber glassed into the inside. Will the water be trapped in the walls to rot the wood or will it find a way out by next spring without freeze damage. I have not asked Evelands for their help yet but I need some guidance. If I had not washed the roof on a ladder this would have continued.until failure and moldy rotted wood became evident. I was able to caulk the missing areas and feel it is water tight now.

Fyi Get up on the sides of your scamp to confirm all is well. I also found several roof snap caps missing near the front already.  I love our scamp but this is a real bad situation.

window caulking gaps

Pretty sure there is butyl tape between the window flange / frame and the camper body to prevent water intrusion, and the caulking is mostly for cosmetic purposes. On mine, the small bathroom roof vent (Vanair model) had gaps in the caulking and I though that was the cause of a leak I had.  But when I removed the vent to reseal it, I saw the butyl was in place and making it water tight. Pretty sure the windows are done the same way.  I would just caulk it after its had a day or two dry and not worry about it. BTW, I later found my leak was cause by AC screws through the roof.

Butyl

As I washed the roof ( before I saw the gaps ) the water did not fill the gap it just disappeared down the gap  so I am not sure where it went,  I did not see the tape but caulked the top properly  and am moving on. hoping it gets out somewhere. It is covered and can still breathe so spring will tell. I love my Scamp anyway and with any thing there will always be something to fix or Tweak
