Bunk bed in 13 ft?

Hello everyone! My wife and I have a 13 ft Scamp on order for this spring. We have not been able to locate one in our area to check out. One question we have is how sturdy the upper bunk bed is. Will it be solid enough for a 5'5" person weighing about 150 lbs? How much head room is there? Any recommendations on getting up into it?! Thanks for any information in advance! Happy Holidays, Robert

Bunks

Robert,

My wife and I have an older 13 Std.  When the the bunks are set up there is a lot of hed room above the top bunk.  Think of the lower bunk as a shelf, I doubt that there is 24 inches of vertical space between the upper and the lower bunks.  The sales people at Scamp shuld be able to answer you question on upper bunk capacity.

If you are agile, you might step up onto the lower bunk, then the counter, and then crawl kinda sorta into the top bunk.  Getting out of the top bunk in the middle of the night might be a scary process for an old sleepy head like me.

I think you will really like your new Scamp.

Upper Bunk

Hi Robert,

Congrats on your soon to be Scamp.

If I recall there is an 80 lb weight limit on the upper bunk, reverify with Scamp salesperson that they haven't beefed it up recently. The bunks are approx 24" in width vs a single bed which is approx 31" width.

You'll be in time for some of the Spring Gatherings.
