Broken Water Filler/Inlet

Well, another problem cropped up while we were up north a couple of months ago.  We went to the store prior to setting up at the campground, with the Scamp still hitched to our truck, and wouldn't you know it, some turkey ran into the right-rear portion of our 16 ft. Scamp, breaking the fresh water filler piece!!  Fortunately this apparently prevented their vehicle from hitting the fiberglass shell (whew!), but now we must replace the filler.  I tried to purchase it through the Scamp website, but they only had the "new style" fillers in stock, not the "old style" like ours.  I asked a Scamp dealer about it and he said the hose connection was the same size as the old.  OK, but what if the holes on the new filler don't match up with the holes on the old filler?  If we replace the old filler with the new design, and the holes don't match up, how does one fill the unused holes in the filberglass?  What material should I use to patch up or fill the unused holes?   Has anyone replaced theirs, or added the new filler piece to their Scamp?  The new filler is on order.  Please let me know if anyone has experience with this.  Please see photos attached of our old broken filler and the new one Scamp now offers.

Water inlet

Think it's this one:

You can probably make the new style work, but will take some modding.

Hole Filler

I would use white Marine-Tex to fill the unused holes. I think most marine supply stores would carry it.

Hide the holes?

Chances are that the new one will cover the old holes. Caulk is your friend.

Old water filler

Camco 37002

Sold by a lot of vendors. You will have to paint it white since it comes in off white. Sometimes it comes without the hose barb, make sure it has the hose adapter .

Thanks for Replies!

Thanks Eddie and all who replied.  Thanks also to athearn2 for the hole filler compound idea.  I guess I'll try installing the new water filler piece (with George's help :-), and if the holes match up with the old filler holes, we will go with it.  Otherwise I'll go ahead and buy the "older" model filler by another vendor.  The water fillers are pretty inexpensive, but the shipping from MN was outrageous.  Not worth sending back, I'll keep as a spare unless any other SOI folks need one!

Old style verses new style.

I am also needing to replace the old style filler. I ordered the new one you show here, but the cut out in my 13' Scamp is much smaller than the new style. I returned mine and am going to try to find the old style to buy.

Installing the Water Filler

HI All:  WELL I'm writing to see if we can get some help with this project!  Finally, our helper George came by and found that he needed to get to the inside of our 16 ft. Scamp, behind the water tank to properly rivet or even to screw the "new" old-style water filler!  I'm very worried about this, as he had to take apart the bottom fiberglass seat beneath the table (or our bed as we don't use the table much).  So, how should this seat be replaced?  There are screws on the upper side, but the bottom has some kind of sealant.  What sealant should we use?  Any other tips on replacing this seat? Pls see photo:
