Bottom of door leaking

Hi! We’re new Scamp owners of a 1998 16’. We noticed the floor was a little soft right inside the door. We have since learned that wet roads will cause water to seep under the door. What would be the best fix for this issue? Thx! Nancy

Door seal

Scamp sells an improved rubber door seal. Your trailer came with a cheap open cell foam seal. Removing the old seal glue can take a while. There is also suppose to be a 3/4" x3/4" foam seal on the floor edge and it touches the door. If you get the new door seal from Scamp, people use a piece of the new seal to fill the floor gap. To replace wood floor by the door is a fairly easy repair, but you will have to replace the lower floor covering. You may want to post a picture of your current door seal so we can verify your current seal before ordering a new seal. If you order a new seal go over the trailer and make a list of other needed parts so you can save on shipping.

Thx for the info. Replacing

Thx for the info. Replacing the door seal is definitely high on my list. But it looks like it’s already been replaced because the seal is rubber. I might need to contact the previous owner.

Hi!  Fixing up your Scamp is

Hi!  Fixing up your Scamp is so much fun!  Congrats!

It’s a good thing that you are finding and fixing the cause of the problem, but a soft subfloor would also need to be addressed. A plywood subfloor only gets soft like that after soaking for a good while.  Once soft plywood needs replacing.  You likely need a patch or perhaps a layer of 6MM premium birch underlayment at the lower level.  Bright side: New flooring is so cool!
