We have the fifth wheel and not full timing in her yet but thinking that we want to do away with the door and just add a pretty curtain with shower liner or build a wooden frame and fill with frosted plexi perhaps. has anyone done anything different with the bathroom door and do you have any ideas before I start removing that piano hinge?
We tried making it a dutch door but not 100% pleased with the look. Hubby does beautiful woodwork so the possibilities are endless but as it is the first thing you see when you open the door, I want it to be fabulous!
Any ideas?
I did my bathroom door like this because I still wanted a door for obvious reasons (number 2). The reason for the removable access panel (that I built into my bathroom door) was to keep the bathroom warm during the winter season while the camper was being used and cool during the summer while the camper was being used. Having the bathroom door close all the time without an access panel kept the bathroom cold during the winter and hot during the summer (while the rest of the camper was MAINTAINED at a comfortable temperature).
Scott: I have to wonder what others are doing. Installing a vent in the door? The other huge issue that I have to wonder about is condensation, and the potential for mold. Some of the Scamp models had small window in the BR, but not all. Does that mean when the room gets warm or they shower, are they leaving the door open until the condensation dissipates? Would appreciate hearing your thoughts and others on the forum. Barb
Scamp installs the VanAir powered roof vent in the bathroom (at least in recent vintage layout four models)
Mine leaked on day one from the factory, and I just spent the better part of today removing it, cleaning it up, and reinstalling with new butyl tape and sealant. Sure hope its water tight now!
When I used mine in Florida (February, March 2016 for the first time), I would crack the bathroom door to help in the ventilation with the aid of the overhead fan unit in the bathroom for 20 min or so (This was before my modification – Access Panel in the bathroom door).
Now and then I would use a window squeegee I got from the Dollar Tree store to half-ass wipe down the walls around the shower to help in speeding up the drying time. As for condensation and mold, with the heater going in my camper and leaving the bathroom door cracked (for which now I won’t have to do that anymore due to the Access Panel I installed) condensation and mold was not a problem…
PS: I don’t have the small window but do have the overhead small DC fan/ventilation (Gordon talked about)…
Here's a picture of the cheap squeegee I use now and then:
I like the magazine rack on the inside of the door !!!
Very Man Caveish !!!!!!
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
It gets boring in there without anything to do or read... LOL
Our 2008 Scamp has a front crank out window to aid in removing moisture. Now new Scamps have a vent fan, no window. This has become a deal breaker for those desiring a window, and have moved on to Casita trailers for that window.

I've seen the new 13' Casita on the web and they too don't have the front window anymore... Is it an option to put one in?
