We finallly found a 16' Scamp Deluxe (~2500 lbs). Has anyone towed with a Hyundai Santa Fe? The 2008 model we are looking at is the Limited trim, V6, AWD, 3.3 L engine and therefore is *supposed* to come with a tow prep package, although it has been darned difficult to prove that it does. Tow capacity for this model is listed as 3,500 lbs. with 350 lb. tongue weight. We will definitely install a brake controller and likely an anti-sway bar. Anybody tried towing with this vehicle? Thank you!

Anyone tow with a Hyundai Santa Fe V6 3.3L
We have a 2009 Santa Fe SE and it does have the additional transmission fluid cooler mounted in front of the radiator. That was the only clue I had about any tow package. We have a 16' Standard so it weighs about 2100 loaded up and we have to look back to make sure the trailer is still there. I have installed a friction sway control but I don't think I really needed it; Jane was a little hesitant to drive tow without it though. We installed a brake controller and wiring harness from E-Trailer and didn't bother looking for wiring already in the vehicle; went well with me doing the install. I note with interest since I'm thinking about trading for a 2015 model, that the new Santa Fe's (not the Sport model which is a four cylinder), which look like the same size as ours and with the 3.3 engine now have a 5000 lb rating and the Sport with the 4 cyl Turbo has a 3500 lb rating.
Thank you so much! I emailed Hyundai Customer Service with the VIN to ask if the used vehicle we were considering had the tow package and 2 days later they replied that it did. (I had previously wasted a couple of hours waiting to speak to someone on their phone line.) I also asked if the recalls had been completed - 2 recalls in dealt with a faulty factory-installed wiring harness - and they said that they had been completed. So now I feel more confident in purchasing the used car as a tow vehicle. I'm glad you have had a good experience; good luck with your next Santa Fe!
