Hi all,
I'm getting the Scamp ready for the summer season and have flushed out the antifreeze from the water system. I know all about the process of sanitizing the system prior to taking a trip, but our first trip will not be until July. I'm thinking a full water system with a small amount of added bleach (like a couple of teaspoons) would be better than an empty, but invariably moist, system. I would then drain that water and sanitize as usual before leaving in July.
Does that sound right or do other folks use other methods of keeping the water tank and lines free of growths between trips?
Bob
What Bob says is one reason that I still haven't used the water system on my one-year-old baby Scamp. The other being that for all the water I use, it's just as easy to go fill a couple jugs at the nearest tap, and easier yet never to have to winterize the water system at all. Sometimes I think I should try out the sink; other times I think, "It pours faster from the jug anyway." (Plus I save 8 lb/gallon of weight to tow around. Refer to moniker "going light.")
Having said which, here's what seems like a pretty thorough process: http://www.campingroadtrip.com/outdoor-living-newsletter-november-2011/h...It assumes you have a water pump, which lots of us don't; but I'm sure someone will figure out how to adapt the procedure.
It would be interesting to know how those who do use the water system manage the sanitation question.
