Trying to mount a cover for dual propane tanks, but the tanks are so close to the battery case that the cover will not slide down between. Has anyone else been able to find propane tank covers that will fit on the 13 ft Scamp with the big battery? We bought the "clamshell" type propane cover that comes in two pieces and screws together along the sides. It is designed to slide down over the tanks. Has a lid on the top to access the valves. Seems to be kind of awkward, now that we have it and can look at it, since it seems you would need to take it completely apart to get an empty tank out. Got it at Curtis Trailer in Portland, but I've seen something that looks like it on other trailers. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Try turning your battery cover around. The rigid tank covers are what they are, all are pretty much the same. You might consider a soft tank cover.

Usually, you just lift off the tank cover to switch tanks and slide it back on when you are done. The cover simply sits over the tanks and is not bolted down.

Thank you for your suggestions. I think we might need to consider a soft cover. ( Thank you for the link). I don't think we can reverse the battery cover since it has two raised panels to accomodate the terminals and wires. Reversing it would not allow it to seal properly over the battery. We purchased the hard cover understanding that it slides on, snaps down and is easily removed to refill the tanks. Spacing between the battery cover and the propane tanks is the issue. They butt right up against each other. I just wondered if others out there have had the same issue and have found a viable alternative?
Thanks everyone

I seem to recall another person on this forum had his tank mount moved forward a couple of inches.
Certainly, if the battery box is so close to the Propane tanks that you can't fit a standard Propane cover between the two, then the tanks may have been welded in the wrong position.
Since you have a brand new Scamp, I would contact the Factory and find out exactly how much space there should be between the battery and the tanks. You might be able to get the tanks repositioned under warranty.

Single tanks are located between the frame rails and it is pretty much a fixed location. Dual tanks are mounted on a tank tray that is bolted to the single tank frame cross members. You can drill new holes in the tank tray and slide it forward to get more space for the battery box. I did that when adding dual batteries. I had to change to a side winder jack because the top handle jack would hit the tanks. I bought a rigid tank covers but did not use it. I just went with bare tanks.

Yes, as ELONGEST says, the dual LP tank tray can be moved forward easily. Remove the tanks. Remove the two bolts holding the tray. Reposition the tray, hold it in place, and with a long drill bit drill up from the bottom going through the original holes in the frame. Replace the two bolts and the tanks. Doing this WILL interfere with the tongue jack handle. You would need to modify the handle, buy a different style hand jack, or an electric jack. We also do not feel the need to cover our dual tanks.
