The forum is quiet today, so I'll shout out my greetings.
I am brand new to camper trailers. My wife grew up with an old and heavy traditional trailer that her dad pulled up to northern Wisconsin lakes on a regular basis. We've been talking off and on about getting a lightweight trailer after the kids are moved out. We have one off to college and the other with just a couple of years of high school left. After a lot of research on lightweight trailers, I've basically decided that none of them are perfect. Scamp seems to offer the best value to us for price, location of the manufacturer, available options, and history of operation. Initially, my wife had her heart set on a Tab Outback, but it just doesn't seem like a good value to me, and has some limitations in space (and height).
So we have pretty much decided on the 16 foot deluxe Scamp. I have my 2012 Ford Escape with a V6 and towing package to pull it with. I was pushing to get it for next summer, but my wife would like to hold off until the following summer when our home nest will be transitioning towards empty. I have been enjoying reading the various threads for the last six months or so and look forward to learning more as time goes on. My goal is to get as close to full timing as possible as the years go on. My wife hasn't bought into that idea yet. :)
Hi John and welcome to the clubhouse! Good choice on the 16 Deluxe, hopefully you can pull the trigger for next summer and spend some time getting it outfitted for the longer adventure ahead.

Hi John, Earl A here. I have a 2015 16’ Deluxe, layout A - that’s the one with front dinette, side bath. I strongly recommend considering layout B with front bath, side dinette especially if you want the shower/sink option. My front bath is VERY small. I didn’t get the shower or sink. The toilet is functional but that’s about all. It works for me and I still love my 16’ deluxe with birch wood. To me, the oak wood seems a little dark. I haven’t made any mods except change the light bulbs to LED. It’s just the way it came from the factory. I pull mine with a Chevy Silverado, 8 cylinder. You shouldn’t have any trouble pulling with a V6.
Another member of our forum ordered a 16’ deluxe, just like mine. After seeing mine, and examining a front bath model, changed the order to the front bath.
Thanks for the suggestions. I like the side dinette. My wife likes the front dinette. We were planning on getting the shower, sink, and toilet. One of the reasons we may put off getting delivery until the summer after next is to have a chance to see in person some other setups. My wife is open to travel to the factory next summer, and I am looking into some of the nearby gatherings to tour some of he different setups. Looking at something in person seems more valuable than looking at the photos on line. In fact, I've always thought that oak was too dark (we have hickory in our home), but the oak online doesn't look that bad. I think it would help to see the oak and birch in person before making a final decision.
So you are saying that the side bath (toilet, shower, sink) is smaller than the front bath (toilet, shower sink)?
I have an order placed for summer 17 pickup. I do not see the sink on my order, Is it standard or optional?
I keep finding things on SOI that I did not see on line or at Backus two weeks ago. Has anyone had a factory tour? I have asked three times and never got an answer. Pictures of my trip are on facebook, search ac0gv. I had three Scamps parked in my field last weekend but none were mine!
When I look at the options page that scamp emailed me, the toilet/shower is listed/costed separately from the sink, but both are listed as included as part of the package for layout A or B for the Scamp 16 deluxe.

I'm not sure about the sink.
I was in Backus on the 14 th of this month to have a fantastic fan and new door seal installed. I asked for and received a factory tour immediately, while I waited. I was also given free access to all of the Scamps that were on the "lot" waiting to be picked up. Was GREAT to be able to leisurely look through the various configurations. I'm surprised you didn't get your tour.
I was told by the service folks to see the sales staff for the tour - took them about a minute to arrange it. Everyone was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Earl: Thanks for the comment. I am considering the side bath, front dinette if I decide to go to a 16 ft in a couple of years. I just don't like taking up any more space than necessary for something that will only be used 5 minutes each day. I did see a couple of 16s with the side storage room at the factory and they did seem awful tiny to add a toilet and shower. Your evaluation and recommendation may have swayed me away from the front dinette model.

Yes, the front bath is much larger than the side bath. I would say the front bath may be half again the size of the side. (Not sure about how much larger however.) In the side bath, the shower head hangs above and behind the toilet. In the front bath, the shower head hangs in front of the toilet. That’s where the sink is also located.
You have an excellent idea of visiting area gatherings to see different models and brands of trailers. I am the host of Scamp Camp Far West. We welcome all brands of molded fiberglass trailers. Last year we had four visitors come by to look, see, ask questions, and get other people’s opinion. Of the four, two went right out and acquired their very own molded fiberglass trailer.
we have a fully equipped 16 with front bath. We love it! Would never have a trailer without a bathroom! Never!
