My nused 2002 19' Scamp has 'to me' a strange issue.
turning on the water pump causes water to gush out of the city water connection.
I filled the fresh water tank using gravity fill spout, turned on the on-demand pump and had very little if any pressure at the sink.
i walked out behind the trailer and water was gushing out of the city water connection. I picked up a hose valve at Lowes and screwed it into the city connection, closed the valve and then I could get pressure in the sink.
Is there a check valve inline of the city water line that should prevent water from spewing out the city connection? Something else I'm missing? Where would the valve be?
You are correct. There is a check valve in the city water inlet. Sometimes the little washer can be reseated or you can change out the water inlet connection. Wal-Mart or RV shops sell plugs for the hose connection. They are a good product to keep the road dirt out the water system or to stops leaks from the trailer pump pressure.

Thanks Eddie. I'll be on the lookout for the water inlet connection so I can replace it. I can't see the washer but I'll keep looking.

Check the water filter (screen) on the pump. I bought a used Scamp once and the screen was full of yuck and barley any pressure at faucet. I don't know if that would make a back pressure or not, seems that the waters got to go somewhere.

Thanks Kilo,
im going through giving it a full checkup since I need to fix a few things. I'll add that to my PMS (maintenance) list

SSB, The Scamp was a 97 Scamp 5er. I see in you other post your having trouble with the water heater. I had a spider nest in the orifice, used a pipe cleaner to clear.

I replaced the city water connection on ours this summer. I found u tube videos very helpful. One video shows how to repair the old check valve. All that usually wrong is the o ring inside of it. You have to take the valve off the Scamp to access the keeper for the plunger. A needle nose pliers will pull the keeper off and then you can replace the o ring. I fixed the old one but I still replaced it with the new one. One thing I found is the new one had male threads and the old female. I bought a brass 1/2 inch coupler to accept the new city water inlet. Good luck, I hope it goes as easy as possible.

Check on u tube for RV City Water Hookup leaks

Thanks Doug, I may try to repair but will probably replace since the trailer is so old, no telling how long that valve has been there or been broken for that matter.
