I have been wanting to ask, What is the smallest AC (power and size) made that can be used in a closet of a Scamp 13"?
AND, can a window AC be used? if so how would that be installed? any pictures of the installation???

We had a 5000 btu unit in our 81 13 Scamp dining window that did OK. I'd probably go with 6000 or better based on that experience.
The install is in the Modifications Table of Contents under Air Conditioning

Yes you can, but it involves cutting a vent into the fiberglass shell and adding a drain tray. Also running 110 outlet if you don't have the exterior outlet to tap into.

OK, I can do a vent and a tray! Will an AC in the closet heat up the closet? If so, would a wall AC heat it less?

I'm not willing to give up a window. I'm very much hoping I can put one in the closet, I have seen pictures with AC in closet.
Greg, I've been looking for a 4,000 AC for my 13". You said in your post, instead of a 5,000 you would have put a 6,000 in stead....Why???
A 5,000 keeps my house bedroom cool, my bedroom is bigger than a Scamp.

The closet installation was the standard location that Scamp Trailers used to add AC as an option on the earlier Scamps. Sits right above the wheel well and vent cut in to the rear of the door. It is a bit more work than a window unit, but it is probably the best location. 5000 btu would be the minimum I would go, but since there is very little price or size difference to go to a 6000 btu unit I would definitely go with the 6. The 5000 btu was a bit light in our 13, but we are also in AZ. I'd rather set the thermostat a bit lower on a more powerful unit than run a 5 at full setting.
Not really any comparison to cooling a trailer to a bedroom in a house. Different insulation and dynamics. It will take more to cool a trailer, especially if your campsite is in direct sun.

I'm going to trust your experience and look for a 6,000 BTU unit. I won't mind the extra work to put it in the closet, the challenge to figure out how to do it will be fun. When I take on a job challenge I do it in my head a hundred times before I actually start the job.
One last question, would a wall AC be better in the closet then a window AC? not easier but better or doesn't it matter?
