Hi everyone. I am a single lady "of a certain age" and I'm wrestling with whether or not to jump back into trailer traveling. In my younger days, my family traveled with a 26 foot rear bunk model. I'm now looking at the 13 foot Scamp layout 2. I guess I'm wondering how many older ladies travel solo? How much ongoing maintenance do these little guys require and how physically taxing is it? I don't worry about the driving forward, but the backing up will need some practice - I wasn't all that great at it before! I plan to drive up to Backus and look over the models before winter sets in - I'm in Wisconsin, so it's not too far. I'm hoping for any advice you all have for me.

Deciding when to buy
I purchased my 13 ft Scamp in July 2015 and picked it up in Dec 2015 in Backus. I'm still learning to back it up which is not an easy task but I will master it. I'm taking my first "real" camping trip next week out to Medora ND. I live in Minnesota. I'm looking forward to using it more upon my retirement in a few years. I travel with 2 smaller dogs so I hope they enjoy it too. Best wishes to you.

Just so you know, there is a 6 month wait list if you are purchasing new.

The 13 is what you need..maintenance free ...easy to tow..and a woman of a "certain age" can do it herself.
Backing up made easy..
1. Place your hand at the 6 o'clock position on your steering wheel
2. Look in your side mirrors
3. When you want the back of the trailer to move towards the passenger side....move your hand towards the passenger side door
4.When you want the back of the trailer to move towards the drivers side....move your hand towards the drivers side door
OK thanks for the advice....I will give it a try!

Do a Google search for "Solo Female campers". Lots of results to check out.
