Brand new Scamp owner and new to this page :)

HI folks, I am Jaye and am I anxiously awaiting the delivery of my brand new 13' Scamp big bed layout #2!  I am new to this site but no stranger to fiberglass eggs, I have had a few of them starting back in the mid 80's. Been addicted ever since.  Finally got a chance to buy a brand new one and it was supposed to be here (I am in Maine) on Friday, but bad weather in Minnesota and Wisconsin has pushed it back a couple of weeks :(

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself, I imagine I will be on here A LOT asking questions about my new Scamp - the ones I have had before were pretty much tear downs (at some point) so I knew them through and through but having a new one is going to be a whole different ball game for me and I'll have lots of questions, plus I have never had one with a bathroom before!

So fire away at any advice you may have and wish me luck holding out that extra couple of weeks waiting on the delivery, the excitement is killing me!

Jaye

Howdy

Well, Hi Jaye and welcome to the clubhouse. I remember you from a few years back on another forum and your adventures with your first Scamps. Glad to have you join us on SOI.

Did you decide to have Scamp deliver? I had thought originally you were gonna brave a pickup trip....

Thank you! And yes you are

Thank you! And yes you are correct. I was going to make the trip to Backus but my travel partner backed out which meant only one driver (me!) so I decided to have it delivered.  People keep saying I am crazy buying something sight unseen but I tell them Scamps haven't changed in 40 years, I am sure it will be fine LOL

Jaye...they charge a good amount for delivery

Jaye,

The drive up to Backus should be a nice this time of year. And you could camp on the way back

I have read either here or on Fiberglass RV that a couple took delivery out in Montana pr Idaho and the Scamp was just a mess with chips all over the front. If you do get it delivered just make sure to check it over.

You are right Jaye

Welcome Jaye, you are right about them not changing that much in all these years. We ordered a new Scamp last year,13ft with front bath sight unseen,We had one in 81 and so we kinda knew what it would be,you wont be disapointed. We loved ours but needed a tad more room for two of us so sold it and went with a 16 Casita....enjoy all the new adventures when you take delivery

Thank you

I know it's going to be great!  I have never had one with a bathroom before so that is going to be pure luxury for me!

bathroom

When looking for a used Scamp I didn't really want a bathroom, but now that I have one - found a 13' used with bathroom - I am really enjoying it. No more treks into the woods in the morning before my coffee!!!!!  And, when I stop for gas I can just use my own bathroom. Hint - have a coffee can for your waste toilet paper so you are not putting it directly in the toilet.

Waste Toilet Tissue

You Need to,head to a RV store and get toilet tissue rated for RV toilets. It dissolves nicely and drains as well. No coffee can needed!

It's about 1800 miles for me

It's about 1800 miles for me each way and just too much for me to do alone, but I will definitely look it over exceptionally well upon it's arrival and make sure it is in tip top shape :)

Trip

I agree Jaye. Unless you could take like a month to do it and wander that would be too hard a trip. Earl A here in the clubhouse, had his 16 delivered to N CA last June with no issues.
