2015 Scamp Camp SouthWest - Christmas in Sedona

Make your plans for this SOI gathering to get in the Christmas spirit. All brands of molded fiberglass trailers are welcome! This will be the 3rd Annual Scamp Camp Southwest - Christmas in Sedona.
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: In the heart of Sedona, AZ, are shops and galleries at the quaint Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. Every year they hold an event called the Festival of Lights. This year the festival is scheduled for Saturday, Dec 12, 3-8 p.m. The event has great Christmas shopping, multiple bands and musicians performing, a visit from Santa Claus, free cider, and lots of Christmas lights. At 5 p.m. all in attendance begin to light the over 6,000 luminaries that surround the village.
Our favorite event is the Festival of Lights, but there are other events going on as well:
PILGRIMAGE TO BETHLEHEM - Dec 11-13. Annual Christmas extravaganza is outdoors at Tequa Marketplace. Watch for llamas, goats, chickens, a donkey, and miniature horses. The Ancient Bethlehem Tour begins at 3:00 p.m.; The original Christmas Musical is at 5:00 p.m. Don’t miss the Drawing for valuable gifts before, and the complimentary refreshments following. CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK - Dec 12. Located at the Sedona Heritage Museum. Enjoy Christmas in the Park, a free annual open house from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. including museum admission, afternoon concert, hot apple cider, cookies, apple sorter demos and make & take cornhusk ornaments. On the National Register of Historic Places, the museum’s buildings will be decorated in vintage holiday decor. Meet the tumbleweed ‘snowman’, Sedona old-timers and descendants of pioneer families. Visit with local authors signing their books and don’t miss the Museum Shop’s annual sale. SedonaMuseum.org

We do not pack the schedule full of SOI activities beyond Meet and Greet and trailer tours, as the Festival of Lights all day on Saturday is loaded with activities. Greg,on the map that there is someone else showing for site 18,And that is the one that they have us down for.Now Im wondering if someone at the office there at the park made a mistake and double booked one site,I sure hope not:-)

Joe and Linda cancelled their site on Friday and they have a great site right in the middle of the main loop Site #35.
If you want to change your site over to site #35 or are a new reservation please contact the park immediately at (888) 641-4261. Hopefully, we can keep this as a molded fiberglass site and not get a large Class A in the middle.

Here is the schedule of activities for Saturday at Scamp Camp SW:
Trailer Tours will officially begin at 10:00 AM for those that want to make their trailers available to tour. We'll meet at the central firepit and commence from there. Don't all run for the same trailer at once.
At 11 AM Jon graciously said he'd be willing to put on a very informal discussion on how to take and manage digital pictures. He has quite a background in the Arts, and a wonderful blog in our travel blog section with incredible photo's of his journeys.

Weather so far is projected to be pretty good. Saturday and Sunday look to be sunny with a very slight precip chance. Friday night has a 50% precip chance. Temps are projected to be 50 daytime and 31 low. Make sure you have portable heater and full propane as you will need overnight heat. I'll update the weather again as we get closer. We've gone for almost 10 years to the Christmas celebration and had perfect weather to snow, so it's always a surprise.
The park does have full utilities including cable tv and very nice restroom/shower/laundry facility at the top or the main loop.
We'll have some informal group activities, i.e a pizza night perhaps on Friday and Bob is usually up at 3am watching meteors if anyone feels compelled to join him.

Random question - Maybe I'm missing it but I can't find any info on bonfires... Do they have fire pits or allow anything like that at the park?

Unfortunately, the city of Sedona made them ban all fires, even propane fire-pits several years ago. They have a great center firepit that we used to use years ago, but the Sedona City Council got cranky.....
