Just picked up an 88 16 ft Scamp that has been sitting in a field for over 10 years , in rainy western washington concerned about taking moss off the exterior I have used pressure washing in the past on aluminum trailer restorations , on the scamp I am hoping to preserve the original gel coat finish without damaging it . Is pressure washing a good way to go before hand washing and waxing it ?

I use Jomax house cleaner and bleach (read directions) let it sit a while and then brush off. After you get it cleaned up let it set in the sun for a while and the white will brighten it up. I do not use a pressure washer. Jomax is made for removing mold, moss and crud. Found in big box stores.

I recommend against using pressure washer: can cause damage. The best general approach is to start with something mild, and then work up to something stronger. It is important to "do no harm."
I would try using Scrubbly Bubbly (or the like). I have used this in a number of situations: typically, it did the job, and did no damage. A soft brush (note the use of the descriptive "soft) may also prove helpful.
Sams Club has a car/truck washing brush that is AWESOME !!!
The brush is a Pole Brush and the bristles are designed for washing cars and trucks.
I can wash my full size van in about 20 minutes.
You can attach a hose to the brush, but I never have, I simply fill a bucket with "TurtleWax Ice" carwash and water and scrub the van with the sudsy brush.
By the way, TurtleWax Ice is also an AWESOME product, I love it !!
I agree with Mccownw start with a mild soap (like TurtleWax Ice) first, and then move to the harsher chemicals later.
I have used Jomax and it is like using concentrated Bleach, it will bleach out anything it gets on (be sure to wear goggles if you use this stuff !!! ).
If your gel coat is in fairly good condition ( ?????? ), or any condition at all, the carwash and brush should get 90% of the crud off.

Well on friday we actually had some sunshine and a break in our weather and were able to scrubb the scamp from top to bottom thanks to the help of my son . On saturday I removed the cushions , curtaims and cabinet doors and filled up 3 garbage cans of lets just say some undesirable debris . next on my restoration list I will be removing the rotting wiring , plumbing, fresh water holding tank and some of the cabinets I will be getting back to some more of the exterior work later in the restoration process . I will be updating you all with my progress as we continue along this journey of the scamp restoration .
