The light fixtures are starting to go haywire. I used one of the installed fixtures and the light bulb melted the plastic cover. Good thing I furnished my trailer with a couple small table lamps. The light bulbs were so bright that I could not use the installed fixtures. The fixture on the underside of the counter above the stove quit turning off, so I removed the bulbs befiore they too burned out (literally). I plan to replace all the light fixtures with LED. Can anyone that has already done this make recommendations. My Scamp is a 2013, so needless to say, I’m a bit concerned that the light fixtures seem to be a hazard - they are new of Pete sake. I have antique lamps that are safer. :)
Krestine,
You sure have an interesting trailer. Sounds like too much bulb for the fixtures, or something electrical going on with the converter causing this. Might want to take a multimeter to the lights or a trip to a RV repair facility and eliminate the big issue before replacing fixtures. LED bulbs are pricey and if it fries them due to a bigger issue it will get more expensive. Question: Did this happen on shore power or battery??
You have two options with the fixtures:
You can buy the LED RV Light Fixtures all inclusive or just buy the standard fixtures and buy your LED bulbs separate. You have to be careful that you get the right color temperature on the LED lights that suits you. Most people seem to prefer something in a warm white which resembles the current incadescant bulbs.

Hi Greg,
The light fried on shore power, but after thinking about, I may have caused it by trying to reduce the glare by covering the bulb with aluminum foil (I know, I know). Previously I just taped a bandana over the fixture to cut down the light, which worked okay, but looked funky. Not sure what I was thinking with the foill.
Thanks for the Amazon link - great sale prices. I'm a Prime member, so no shipping is an added savings.
Cheers

I tried some foil on my lights once (in a pop-up camper) to reduce the harsh glare.. but I checked it closely and within 30 seconds I knew it was too warm and I quickly removed the foil. It should be OK doing that with LEDs that run cooler, but even LED lights put out some heat, so I will not endorse any light mods other than an appropriate blub change.
Lesson learned here.. you came pretty close to having a fire. I think bandanas are flammable also, so please use lower wattage blubs if you want less light.
