Sounds like you have elephant hide and not rat fur liner. On my 81 with elephant hide I remove the seam tap and caulked the seams, texturing the caulk to match the hide. Seams pretty much disappeared. Then I painted the hide liner with Zinnser White. Came out fantastic, new, and easy to touch up any marks going forward.
Sorry, been so busy moving out of my 4 bedroom condo into the Scamp. I am wondering about whether the insulation will take a coat of paint? It seems weirdly tacky. I haven't tried washing the surface to strip whatever is there off. But had difficulty affixing the split loom wires attaching points to the surface- only crazy glue worked. I like the idea of hiding the seam though...
