Hi all, years ago I purchased a 1988 Scamp 16' and after doing a quick and dirty renovation in 2021 am finally getting around to doing the job right.
Two of the three burners on the existing 3-burner cooktop don't work so replacing it has become a priority as part of the new build. The original fiberglass cabinet component housing the refrigerator, furnace, hot water heater and stovetop is still intact.
The existing cooktop measures roughly 20.5" x 18 with a slightly smaller cutout. Unfortunately, I've struggled to find a stovetop that is comparable from a size standpoint. I've looked into the usual suspects (Dometic, Suburban, Ramblewood, etc.) and each one I've found is either too large or too small. The largest cooktop I feel comfortable installing would be around 22" x 20" but the nearer to the original size the better.
I'd appreciate suggestions from all of you and the wealth of experience here on SOI. Thanks in advance!
Personally, if I were going to replace a cooktop, I'd go with something lwith a glass cover so you gain counter space when not in use.

The countertop hole can be enlarged easily or even shrunk by putting a faceplate over existing hole so the sky's the limit for what you could put in and there are a ton of neat rv cooktops.
One of my Scamps I built a custom countertop that mounted over the fiberglass counter and got rid of the cooktop cause all our cooking was outside.

Do you have a picture of your currrent stove? We replaced our 1986 16' stove recently, so if you need a replacement our old one is available, as well as I can point you to what we used if you want to buy a brand new one.
@ForwardLook - It appears that our original cooktops were of a similar size, albeit different models. Would love to know where you found your replacement. Here is a picture of the one I just ripped out and the hole that remains.
I have in my records that it is a "Atwood 56472 Stainless Steel 3 Burner Wedgewood Vision Drop-In Cooktop". it also comes in black or white, and they do make a matching cover. Fits it very nicely. it was a direct replacement with no modifications needed at all.
I believe this has been replaced by the Dometic DV30.
They list the cutout dimensions; 20-1/2 Inch Width x 16-3/4 Inch. Our cutouts look very close, and we have the same fridge/furnace/cabinet layout.
If you decide to try fixing your current cooktop, it seems to be an Atwood Wedgewood D30. Dometic may still have perts for it, as these were a fairly popular model.
@Greg A - Love the suggestion of using a faceplate of sorts to shrink the hole. I'd thought about installing butcher block and a smaller 2-burner cooktop that would give me space for a cutting board or prep area to one side.
