St Louis winters

Thanks Doug.So you will have time to look up and decide just where you want to travel too when your weather becomes spring back in those parts. The nice thing about living where we do is that we really dont have winters(Las Vegas) so we can pretty much keep going places all winter if we kinda stay in the west:-).We stopped for a few hours to rest in Belmont Az on the way home,it was 26 degrees outside and the little furnace kept the inside of the Scamp nice and toasty for us..Good traveling for you in the springtime ,Earlene

Scamp travel

I so wished we lived out west. I am from San Diego, but life and family situations brought me here. Got educated here, worked here, got married here, now live here! There is some magic to the 4 seasons, and when spring time gets here, mint a refreshing new feeling! Great optimism greets us with great anticipation of travel! We shall get the Scamp, drain the anti freeze, stock it, and make ready for travel. My wife is a talented one with the sewing machines she has. She does not at all care for the tan curtains, or the covers of the cushions. She is making new curtains, using the original curtains as liners. She will the select appraise material for the seat cushions. It will look dramaticallymdifferent than what the factory made.

West to the midwest

Well its funny Doug how people get moved around for whatever reasons, being born and raised in Oakland Ca,then moving to Ks and being there 50 years, and here we are back out west .I had told my hubby that I want to do something with the curtains in the Scamp,at least put liners on them or something like that.We had a T@b trailer a few years back and it had pull down night blinds and we really liked them. You are right about the 4 seasons, but I also have to admit I would rather sit inside and see winter out the front window :-) There is so much we want to do and make our own to our Scamp,We put it in inside storage about a mile from our house. Our sun out here is very harsh on things, both winter and summer and we do want it to stay nice and shiney and bright We opted not to get the top mounted AC unit as my husband didnt want the height up there so he is going to see what and if there is anything out there on the market that we can use as after market if we need one. We mainly go around to differant National Parks to camp.Want to make it down to Tenn and Miss this year if possible.....Great travels in the Scamps

Air Conditioner

I must alert you that a roof AC is NOT advisable. When the factory installs a roof mounted AC on the Scamps, the roof is reinforced. There is significant extra layer of roof on our Scamp as a result of the factory installed AC. Almost all AC's I have seen folks install are some sort of wall or window. So, contact Scamp and talk to them about a AC before you purchase it!

Air conditioner

Oh yes Doug we are aware of the Ac,we opted not to have one up there and so its not reinforced but did have the big air vent put on, Its really our experience that with the places we go to,that it cools down in the mountains at night and we never had no problem sleeping except on night over in Az when it was like 106 all night long :-)

Scamp Ir Vent

We too have the Fantastic Fan, and love it. No Scamp should be without one!

Scamp Interior

Hopefully you'll post some picture of your Scamp once your wife has finished transforming it. I would be really interested to see how she makes it more personal and homey. Has anyone else changed things around to personalize their Scamps? Would love to get some inspiration for ours.

Making your Scamp yours!

Well, first thing we did was name ours. Our beloved ski boat was named Free Spirit, so it was fitting we named our trailer as we did...

Scamp Door

Wow - what a story! I hope we don't have the same issue. Glad it all worked out for the guys! We've ordered the bathroom in ours as well. I wasn't sure about whether to go with it or not, but I think we'll be glad that we did. Enjoy your first "official" trip in your new Scamp :-)

Scamp bathroom

The bathroom was our very first consideration for a Scamp! The entire trailer starts there! It sure has come in handy, both shower and potty. Its all a part of living in one!
