Age is just a number.

Well, we are now 76 and 74 and we have had our Scamp for eight years. Only tent camping until then, not even towing anything or driving a pickup. My wife asked once how long I want to do the hooking up and traveling and I said: "As long as I can climb into the bed." And I meant the truck bed to hook up the safety chains, not the Scamp bed! When that becomes tough, I'll get a little step ladder. In other words, we'll keep doing this as long as possible. We made almost as many trips last (the covid) year as any other, and I like to joke that getting out of town was our way of "social distancing". We still do a few 500 mile days when needed, but those are fewer and we share driving about 60:40 or 70:30, she does the easier stretches, away from big cities. So, age is just a number. Keep healthy and keep moving to explore the wonders of this continent!

Steps up (lack there of) are

Steps up (lack there of) are the hardest part in the Standard...BUT, if your over 5'8" the Deluxe might be too short for sleeping, unless you are at a slant...we were on the list for a '23 Deluxe '19 but found a slightly used '22 Standard and didn't realize bed issue b4...at the factory. we laid down but w/o pillows blankets etc...IF you are over, you could (as mentioned elsewhere on Forum)use bunk bed (top) to then sleep front to rear and fit..if any of that makes sense...back to the question...70 is the new 50 right?!?  ;)  So you will be FINE!  Plus the Scamp is likea time machine/fountain of youth...it makes you younger?

Scamp at 70+

I am 76, my wife is 74. We had a motor home, a nice one not huge, 25', but it was maxed out with all the bells and whistles. But I wanted to reduce my work load, both when traveling and when not. Some of you know what I mean. Since we'll not young we didn't want to wait two or so years for a new Scamp. We found a very nice 2013 13' w/o a bath and jumped on it. We had sold the motor home months before. We're in the process of making the little camper ours. My wife is making new curtains, we got a new mattress to make the dinette a full time bed. Some other decorative items and such, but we plan to make many short and some logish trips with our Scamp each year for at least several years to come. A easy tow, easy set up and go. Making life more simple and relaxing. Plus as less expensive as possible to travel in this crazy country of ours today.
