Just finished replacing the escape hatch. Fingers crossed there will be no leaks.

i might need to do this with mine. what did you use other than rivets and the acutal hatch/cover? butyl/putty tape? silicon? any advice/help is appreciated i've never done it before but have a small leak.

Yes butyl tape and dicor lap sealant. There is a video on you tube I watched. They were putting in a fan but same process.
thank you. the issue i have is my 1987 has piano hinge on the metal hatch. the new lid cover from scamp has C channel. I have to take one or the other off and re-engineer. or just replace the whole thing. my dad is coming over today to have a look with me to see how hard re-engineering it would be, if so then i'll replace it all.

we checked it out and i'm gonna replace the whole thing. gotta place my order now for rivets, putty tape, and the total hatch assembly. what riveter did you use to install them? would you mind sharing that video from youtube please?

Rivet gun from harbor freight broke when I had 3 holes left. I went to Menards and got one for like $17 and it was so much better/easier. I got my escape hatch 13x20 on Amazon. I will try to find the video and share.
i ordered the parts from scamp and found a rivet tool at harbor frieght. only 20 bucks if it breaks i'll buy another. thanks again!

Just Google how to replace roof vent in an RV. The one I watched was RV 101 how to replace roof vent. I don't know how to share it on here.

Thank you! parts from scamp arrive on saturday. I need to read up on drilling out the old rivets, i don't want to enlarge the holes because the new escape hatch will use the same ones. Dicor Lap Sealant isn't arriving till next week, got a camping trip scheduled for next weekend. luckily the Lap sealant cures in 30 mintues and is fully waterproof in 4 hours so even if i have to apply it morning of, i will be good for the trip that evening.
