Sewer Hose

Our new 16 deluxe is on order and I have been reading up on various suggestions and modifications for month(s). The small sewer hose carrier mounted on the front seems to be a source of complaint because the included 10-foot hose didn't provide the length needed. Some have even suggested having scamp leave it off the trailer all together as longer hoses do not fit. However, I stumbled across a 20-foot sewer hose on the Scamp website where they offer for sale a 20-foot sewer hose and the caption reads "This sewer hose will extend the reach or range of black water draining. This 20' hose will still also fit inside the 26" Hose Carrier attached to our trailers." Soooooo my questions: Has anyone had any experience with this product? Do I leave off the carrier or buy the Scamps longer hose?

Scamp Hose

Don't mess with a Scamp hose. It only has one fitting and it is really thin and prone to develop leaks. Some CG require a cone to screw into the GC site hook up. The 15' Rhino Hose is a good hose and will reach both trailer discharge ports at the dump site. Most of the better hoses will not fit into the Scamp storage tubes because of length and the dia. of fittings won't fit into the tube. Also the front mounted tubes turn yellow after a couple of years and adds 4 rivet holes. Lot's of people mount a 5" plastic fence post under the trailer just behind the grey water discharge and it will hold your cone adapter. If currently have a storage tube on front, it is good for storing a 5' tote hose but it will need to be painted white after a couple of years

Hose

I will take your advice to heart. It sounded like an easy fix, or so I thought, and will be looking to leave off the tube and pickup up a better hose for the trailer. I wish Scamp had a better solution since this one is an often used item.

How to mount a sewer hose storage tube

What is the best way to mount the fence post under the scamp?

Alot has changed

This comment is in the middle of a 4 year old post and a lot has changed. I do have a fence post for a holder but would now use this,  or they also have an adjustable one.

Ten foot hose

My problem with the original 10' hose was that the plastic tends to keep the compressed length. It takes a set in the short hose carrier. First I bought a second carrier and combined them so the hose is compressed less while stored. Then I improved it  by using a length of 5" drain pipe and cut one carrier in half, so each end of the combination has a closure. The ten foot hose no longer has the tendency to shrink in length and spill contents. Much easier to use and keep clean.

Sewer Hose

I am also shopping for a sewer hose. Seems like Rhino and all others get negative reviews from some users. Why does this have to be so difficult?

Anyone use a Lippert Waste Management system?

Of course on a 13' there is the problem of storing the hose, outside the living area. Is 20' ever necessary? We will be using the Scamp for about 2-3 weeks after leaving the factory, so want to be REASONABLY sure of our equipment from the get go!

Sewer Hose

I have been using the Viper Sewer hose for a couple of years now and I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

One of the advantages of the Viper Sewer Hose is that the hose collapses and stays collapsed if there is no force pulling it apart. It uses a sort of "clicking" system to keep itself compressed and only extends as far as you want it to, it also stays extended until you re-compress it.

I also recommend using a 45 degree "clear" elbow at the sewer connection that allows you to see what is coming out of your tanks and will let you know when they are empty.

The Viper system also comes with a 90 degree elbow for placing into the sewer pipe opening.

As far as storage goes, you can supplement your hose storage by adding a storage pipe underneath the rear end of your Scamp, or by adding a square vinyl fence post on top of your bumper.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Thanks for the review. I won't be able to install a storage system on the road, but will make due.
